Mary Waalk RN,BSN 1090 Meadowlark Dr. Fairfield, Ca. 94533 I have had the pleasure of working as a registered nurse in critical care for over ten years serving mostly the underprivileged and underserved. I appreciate my various experiences in multiple healthcare settings because it has enriched my knowledge and sharpened skills throughout the spectrum of healthcare and the medical field. When I earned my BSN degree, I began working in the emergency room of a state hospital in New Orleans serving the largest population of underserved and underprivileged. I realized that often individuals seek medical help for a multitude of differing needs. I could care for a critically injured child and become a shoulder for the parent to cry on as well. Later I may have a homeless patient who only needs a meal and warm place to lay his head. Emergency medicine has been my passion and encouraged me to further my education in order to help improve the health care system. I am striving to further my education in order to better serve our communities and be an active member of the team preventing illness and disease. Throughout my career I have had the privilege of working with many talented, educated, and compassionate professionals. I have also had the experience of working with many whom do not belong in the health field. Through this, I have learned what it takes in order to be an advocate for our patients and provide the best care they indeed deserve. My life experiences which necessitated the need to become a patient myself has also taught me what it feels like to be on the receiving end of health care. I am a very compassionate, caring, and hard working patient advocate. I feel I can better serve the sick and injured through furthering my education and becoming a sharper and constantly improving health professional. I am looking forward to branching out into pharmaceutical sales, education, and research to fulfill a great passion of mine.
