Designed new system, improving production and regaining market share. Competitor’s updated control system, resulted in lost sales for Emhart. Led team in design/development of cost-effective new enhanced system and assemblies. Reduced control cost 27% and assembly time 30% while adding paths for future enhancements. Enhanced product development process. Use of GBR controllers limited time to develop new products/features and required large amounts of legacy support. Switched all standard products to one of three packages using 90% off-the-shelf components. Reduced product design time by three months and new product inventory 15%. Reduced failure rate, saving warranty costs. Product had 20% first-year failure rate, resulting in increased warranty costs. Analyzed root cause. Managed simulation, longevity and Halt/Hass tests. Created customer update and in-house testing program. Cut failure rate to 1%, saving $1.7M annually while establishing product’s superiority. Increased production efficiency. Emhart machines were adjusted manually by experienced employees. Added thermal imaging and process air instrumentation and trained users. Reduced set up time 20% and reject rate 2%. Improved production throughput 5%, adding an additional 10,000 bottles per day. Created top selling customer upgrade. Emhart offered machine that required entire system replacement and was not widely accepted. Researched customer needs. Built hybrid, adding Servo motion to existing mechanisms. Upgraded manufacturing process. Product was #1 selling upgrade, adding $90M to revenues.
