  • Managed the tracking of technical magazine articles from proposal stage through the final publication and payment stage for five print publications and multiple online publications. Proactively used a Microsoft Access database to track where in the process each article was, and worked with internal editors to keep the articles moving through the process. Maintained accurate lists (which changed frequently during each day) for each publication issue, accounted for what was published to accurately pay authors, and kept track of all unassigned articles. Maintained the electronic filing of all articles in the production cycle. Processed payments to authors and technical editors, verified correct pay rates for each, applied proper accounting codes, and sent prepared vouchers to accounting for payment. Prepared monthly and quarterly budget tracking reports. Tracked author copyright agreements and work orders to ensure they were up-to-date and in compliance with corporate legal requirements. Resolved numerous daily questions regarding accounting issues, subscriptions, budgets, article status, and database management.  Assisted in designing and implementing Access database for article and author-contact tracking.  Learned management features in Access to make changes as processes evolved.  Proposed and implemented new processes that transitioned the department to paperless article management.  Planned and coordinated off-site meetings; including meals, themes, and site location selection.
