Two areas of responsibility were client management and employee management. Both were equally demanding and important to the function of the company.
The company that I worked for managed clients with developmental disabilities. The clients had daily schedules and yearly plans that had to be carried out. Each client could be compared to a contracted project, with a contract time of one year. It was my responsibility to maintain the clients' health and lifestyle as determined by the clients' personal team. (Doctors, guardians, therapists, social workers and service companies like mine) Like any company it is vital to keep the customers happy, in the case of this company each client came with an entire entourage that had to be accommodated as well.
Employee management was also an important aspect of my position. The company functioned 24 hours a day, so staff ratios were crucial. I was in charge of managing overtime, wage budgets and employment and termination policies. Managing the interpersonal relationships between the clients and the staff was a difficult task at times. I conducted proactive trainings and supports for the employees who were in charge of client care and documentation.
